About ACE Avionics Training

Built by working avionics instructors. Sharpened on the one job that matters — getting you through the written the first time.

The shop is short techs. The exam doesn't grade on a curve.

There's a technician shortage across every avionics shop and MRO in the country. The work is waiting. The seats are open. What stands between a sharp tech and the floor is a written exam — and a study process that wastes their time.

Here's the problem. Rote prep teaches you what you already know. You grind flashcards, you re-read the chapters you're comfortable with, and you walk into the testing center confident about the wrong things. The exam doesn't care how hard you studied. It cares what you missed.

You don't have a knowledge problem. You have a blind-spot problem.

ACE was built to solve that one thing: find what you don't know, prove the right answer against the FAA source, and drill the weak spots until they stick. Pass the first time. Get to work.

Provenance and adaptation. That's the whole pitch.

CARD 01

Every answer, traced to the book

No "trust me." Every explanation cites the FAA source — the H-8083 handbook series, the ACS test plan. When ACE tells you why an answer is right, you can check it against the same reference the exam was built from. That's provenance. Most prep doesn't bother.

CARD 02

It adapts to you, not the other way around

Static PDFs don't change as you learn. ACE does. Miss a question, and ACE diagnoses it to a specific ACS code, explains the principle, and re-sorts your queue around that weak spot. Master something, and it stops wasting your time on it. The queue bends toward what you don't know.

A readiness estimate you can actually read

As you drill, ACE tracks mastery per ACS code — SOLID or REVIEW — and updates a readiness estimate so you're not guessing whether you're ready. It's an indicator, not a promise. But it's an honest one, and it beats walking in blind.

Built by the people who wrote the book. Twelve of them, actually.

ACE Avionics Training was created by Nick Brown — Director of Workforce Development at the Aircraft Electronics Association (AEA) in Lee's Summit, Missouri.

Nick built the CAET certification from scratch. Not adapted, not licensed — built. He wrote the 12 textbooks, authored the full question bank, and stood up the learning management system that runs it. Before AEA, he taught avionics in a high-school CTE classroom, so he knows exactly where techs get stuck and why. He's an Air Force veteran. He holds an M.A. in Career & Technical Education from Western Michigan University.

That's the authority behind every question in the bank. Content here is written and reviewed by working avionics instructors — people who do the job and teach it.

"The written exam shouldn't be the thing that keeps a good tech off the floor. ACE finds the gaps before the FAA does."

— Nick Brown

Get good techs through the written. The first time.

That's the mission, start to finish. ACE exists to close the gap between a capable technician and the certificate that lets them work — by replacing rote grinding with diagnosis, citation, and targeted drilling.

To be clear about what ACE is and isn't: ACE is a knowledge-test supplement for the FAA A&P and CAET written exams. It is not a flight school. It is not the certifying body. It is not a Part 147 replacement. It does one job — and does it honestly.
